This is the story of a range war, the story of a railroad right of way, of murder, greed and corruption littering the long dark trail from the East Coast of America, to south Texas. " This is a great read for Western Fans. The story, set in the rail expansion across America, has all the cowboy elements, the hero, the villain, the town trying to make it and the great love affair. It's time for the western to make a comeback with great reads like this' "

" Have not read a western for an age but as soon as I started reading this I was there drawn into the setting and involved with the characters. The writing like the central character is lean and spare giving the reader just enough from which to use their imagination. The story is familiar, ageing gunslinger seeking redemption and peace but seemingly unable to find either finally gets the chance and the lady! Meant to take my time but read it in just about one sitting and thoroughly enjoyed it. More please "
