Day Skipper Motor Cruising is a practical guide, designed to help anyone attending the RYA Day Skipper Practical Motor Cruising course. The aim is to provide the student with the knowledge to skipper a motor cruiser safely by day, in waters with which he or she is familiar.
Topics covered include: basics of hull and propulsion design; preparation of the boat for sea; boat handling; emergency procedures; advanced mooring techniques; procedures for leaving a berth and arrival; revision of navigational terms, use of charts & tidal calculations; passage planning and finally knots, ropework and seamanship. Each section concludes with questions and answers to aid revision, helping towards success in the RYA Motor Cruising course.
